Just how much damage do we do to our electrical systems every time we plug a battery in?

The actual need for an Ideal Diode was something I was NOT even aware of.
That is, until Randy MacKay wrote a blog post on them, and shortly after I had the unfortunate experience of blowing 3 power supplies while plugging in batteries on a new Hexa build that uses 2 x 6S batteries in series.

I never would have been aware of the damage being caused if this BEC had not literally blown up while bench testing a drone.

I was expecting some horrendous voltage spikes but this was bad enough.
